    One-Page Teacher Kit: Discussion Questions & Activities

    Everything you need to run a quote-based SEL lesson — 10 discussion questions, 3 ready-to-teach activities, age range, and curriculum themes on a single page.

    Age Range

    Ages 8-14 (grades 3-8); adaptable read-aloud for grade 2.

    Lesson Length

    10-minute morning meeting, or a full 30-minute lesson block.

    Group Size

    Whole class, small groups of 3-4, or one-on-one at home.

    10 Discussion Questions

    1. Which quote in today's reading did you understand right away — and which one took a second read?
    2. The person who said this quote lived a very different life from yours. What part of it still fits your world?
    3. Tell about a time you kept going after something went wrong. What made you get back up?
    4. What does 'doing your best' look like on a hard day versus an easy day?
    5. Who is someone in your life who shows the quality in this quote? How do they show it?
    6. If you had to explain this quote to a first grader, what words would you use?
    7. What is one small thing you could do this week to live out this quote?
    8. When you make a mistake, what do you usually say to yourself? Is that what you'd say to a friend?
    9. Which is harder for you — starting something new or finishing something hard? Why?
    10. Write your own quote about who you want to become. What would you want kids to remember?

    3 Classroom Activities

    Quote of the Week Wall

    15 min setup + 5 min daily
    1. Post one quote and the speaker's short biography on the board each Monday.
    2. Students add a sticky note with one real example of the quote in action.
    3. Friday: read three notes aloud and vote on the week's best example.

    Knock-Down / Get-Up Journal

    10 min, 3x per week
    1. Students fold a page in half: 'What knocked me down' and 'How I got back up.'
    2. Give a 3-minute quick-write after a challenge — a quiz, a game, a group conflict.
    3. Every other Friday, students reread their entries and highlight one sign of growth.

    Color, Quote, Reflect

    25-30 min
    1. Print a free coloring page of a historical figure from the collection.
    2. Students color the portrait while a partner reads the quote and bio aloud.
    3. On the reflection lines, each student writes how they will use the quote this week.
